Your subconscious fears: fear of death, fear of life, fear of loneliness, fear of darkness, fear of being nobody, fear of not becoming a great success, fear of many different things. Throughout your whole life, that number of fear would be tremendous. You may become aware of those subconscious fears, but at what level? So you have to understand the fear because fear can breed illusions and makes the mind dull…

What is subconscious fear and how did it affect us?

Fear is one of the most basic human emotions. It involves a universal biochemical response as well as a high individual emotional response. Since infants, we are already equipped with the survival instincts necessary to respond with fear when we sense danger or feel unsafe.

Fear helps protect us. It alerts us to the presence of danger or the threat of harm, whether that danger is physical or psychological. It can be like a warning, a signal that cautions us to be careful.

On the other hand, fear cannot exist by itself. It is not an abstraction. An abstraction comes into being only when one runs away from fear into an idea or concept or activity. A mind that lives in fear is a dead mind, is a dull mind; it is a mind that cannot look, see, hear clearly, directly. So it is very important to understand one’s relationships with others, with society, with everything, and to be free of fear totally.

It could be conscious or subconscious.

From the fear of heights to fear of embarrassment, we have all got our fears. However, some people are better at handling it than others.

While our conscious mind makes us aware of the happenings in our surroundings and processes information at the present moment, our subconscious mind is operating silently behind the scenes.

From childhood experiences to past memories, a lot is being processed below the level of conscious awareness. Since we are not mindful of these happenings, our emotions can be quite irrational.

Our fears also reside in the subconscious mind.

If you spend half an hour consciously, deliberately, to find out your fears, outwardly at least, you can easily stop them. But it is much more difficult to find out the subconscious fears, deep down within you, which have greater importance and which during your sleep become dreams.

What about modulating our own irrational fears and anxieties? Whether it is triggered by a tiger or a spider, fear, like any emotion, is underpinned by physical signals in the body. These include a stronger and more rapid heartbeat as well as changes in patterns of blood flow. Such bodily signals are critical to the experience of fear, even though they are usually registered subconsciously.

The subconscious fear is very deep, which requires great penetration, understanding. Either one can understand the whole thing, both the conscious as well as the subconscious immediately, with one look, or you take time through analyzing all the intimations and hints of the subconscious which arise through dreams.

Why you must confront your subconscious fear

Fear is good, it plays an important role in our survival. But too much fear is a problem. These days, the treatment for a phobia like fear of spiders or dogs is more likely to involve gradually increasing an individual’s exposure to the feared object.
Some subconscious fears may be a result of experiences or trauma, while others may represent a fear of something else entirely, such as a loss of control. Still, other fears may occur because they cause physical symptoms, such as being afraid of heights because they make you feel dizzy and sick to your stomach.

Subconscious fears help us survive, but phobias ruin lives. Some simple tricks send signals to your brain to allow you to feel the right amount of them:

Be Honest

Many of us are quite insecure about our fears. We might not want to admit to ourselves that something scares us and that we need to do something about it.

The first step is to acknowledge that there is a problem. It would require tapping into the subconscious and finding out reasons for fear.

Break the fear cycle

Whenever you are facing a fearful situation, the same emotions stir up and the process gets reinforced through repetition.

Your goal is to break that cycle. You need to be fully aware of the negative feelings and try to replace them with positive ones.

Give voice to the subconscious fear

Fear grows in the dark. So, give your voice to it. Tell another person you trust what’s bothering you. The worst thing you can do is isolate, so try not to have to use this way.

Develop a spiritual practice

You should build yourself a faith system, a higher power relationship and become willing to accept that you are not alone. And when fear gets really gnarly, call on that power to relieve you of the burden.

Employ Self-Hypnosis

Hypnosis is an ancient technique that helps you communicate with your subconscious mind and change its patterns for the better.

Self-hypnosis contains a series of relaxing, imaginative and self-suggestion techniques. It might take some time, but once you master self-hypnosis, you can get rid of all your fears and anxieties.
